On September 24th, we gathered at GS1 Norway’s Smart Centre for a morning of coffee, conversation, and collaboration. The breakfast meeting brought together industry leaders, innovators, and changemakers to explore how Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are evolving from regulatory requirements into strategic assets that drive value across industries.
The event also marked the official launch of our collaboration with Invig AS, a milestone in our shared mission to build connected product ecosystems that enable traceability, sustainability, and trust.

From Obligation to Opportunity

As regulations tighten and consumer expectations rise, product data is no longer just something you need—it’s something you can use. Throughout the morning, we showcased how companies of different sizes and digital maturity are already leveraging DPPs to unlock new opportunities across their value chains.

Setting the Stage

After a warm breakfast and networking session, Espen Braathe, Business Development Director at GS1 Norway, welcomed participants and set the tone for the day. We also heard from Heidi Svane Pedersen, Head of Digital at Lifestyle and Design Cluster, who shared insights from the Nordic collaboration project Data to Business. The initiative brings together over 60 SMEs across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to explore how product data can drive transparency, customer engagement, and circular business models.

Through real-world cases from brands like Holmris B8, Lindex, Ludvig Svensson, and By Green Cotton, Heidi illustrated how DPPs are helping companies build trust, support resale and repair, and even justify premium pricing. Her message was clear: data is no longer just a cost—it is a revenue driver.

Use Case: BRAV Group

Hanne Haslum, Head of Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability at BRAV, presented how the group (Swix, Helsport, Lundhags, Ulvang, Toko) has worked with Repass to digitize product journeys across all five brands. Their DPPs offer full transparency—from raw materials and certifications to repair services and circularity.

Whether it’s a down jacket, a tent, or a pair of boots, each product tells a story—from design and production to end-of-life care. Embedded forms for repair requests, spare parts, and sustainability tips make conscious consumption easier for customers.

Use Case: Repass x Invig – Knudsen Dørfabrikk AS

This case marked the official launch of our collaboration with Invig AS. Using Knudsen Dørfabrikk as a demo, Daniel Westervik (Invig) and Herman Halvorsen (Repass) illustrated how digital infrastructure and documentation can support circular value creation in the wood industry.

Knudsen’s doors are now equipped with RFID and QR codes linking to digital product passports. These contain everything from production history and material data to installation guides, maintenance tips, and complaint forms. Internally, RFID tagging enables real-time tracking through the factory, improving efficiency and transparency.

Use Case: Fylde & Jacu – Coffee with a Purpose

Bjarte Rydland, CEO of Bærekraftig AS, shared how Fylde, in collaboration with Jacu, is using DPPs to tell the story behind every cup of coffee. Fylde reinvests profits into the communities where the coffee is grown, supporting education, healthcare, and clean water initiatives.

Each coffee product comes with a digital passport that details its origin, processing, and impact. Customers can scan the QR code to learn about the farmers and the flavor profile—and even contribute directly to the social projects through embedded donation links and feedback forms.

Bringing It All Together

Each speaker brought a unique perspective on how technology, regulation, and strategy converge in the realm of digital product data. Whether it’s sportswear, wood, or coffee, the message was clear: DPPs are not just about compliance—they’re about connection, credibility, and creating value.

Are you interested in exploring Digital Product Passports in practice?

We are now hosting hands-on implementation workshops where you can work with your own product as a case. These sessions offer a practical way to understand how DPPs can create value for your business—whether you are just beginning or already working on it.

If you would like to join an upcoming workshop, please contact us at [email protected]. We would be happy to continue the conversation.
