LUGA's Circular Workwear

Luga, a Norwegian company specializing in tailored workwear, laundry services, and repairs, handles over 20,000 garment repairs and alterations annually. Built on a foundation of quality, sustainability, and service, Luga is now taking its commitment to the next level by going digital.
Repass partnered with Luga to digitize their workwear offering, bringing transparency, traceability, and repair tracking directly to clients through Digital Product Passports (DPPs).
Bringing Visibility to Every Garment
Workwear is used, cleaned, and repaired constantly. Yet, until now, its lifecycle has remained largely invisible.
Through a pilot with LUGA and Zone Security, 100 uniforms were embedded with GS1 Digital Link QR codes, each connected to a unique DPP via the Repass Connected Product Platform. These digital product passports provide a transparent view of every garment journey—from production to repair and eventual reuse.
- Material composition
- Care instructions
- Supplier and manufacturer data
- A visual map of the product’s journey
Through the DPP, clients can:
- Request repairs via embedded forms or links to Luga’s repair platform
- Track service events such as tailoring, washing, and delivery
- Monitor lifecycle data including usage frequency and repair status
When systems are connected, the DPP updates automatically—logging when a garment is repaired, cleaned, or returned. This creates a living record of each item’s journey, supporting both operational efficiency and sustainability reporting.

Solving Real-World Challenges with Digital Solutions
Creating Digital Product Passports for Luga was not just about digitizing data—it was about designing a system that reflects their craftsmanship, service mindset, and sustainability goals. The project posed several unique challenges, each requiring thoughtful solutions to ensure the final product was both functional and future-ready.
- Making Repairs Effortless
Repairs are core to Luga’s sustainability model. Repass embedded interactive repair request forms directly into the DPP, enabling clients to submit and track repairs without ever leaving the garment’s digital page.
- Visualizing the Garment’s Lifecycle
To make transparency tangible, Repass created a visual map within the DPP—tracking each uniform’s journey from manufacturing in Asia to everyday use in Norway.
- Building for Scale and Integration
Repass developed a modular infrastructure designed for long-term scalability. Luga can now connect existing systems and easily extend DPPs to future services like advanced laundry tracking and deeper tailoring integrations.
Designing for Usability, Longevity, and Scale
Repass approached the project with a user-first mindset—balancing functionality with intuitive design. Every element of the Digital Product Passports was designed to serve both Luga’s internal workflows and the expectations of their clients.
That meant:
- Prioritizing clarity and speed in how service data is presented
- Embedding interactive elements like repair forms and supplier insights
- Ensuring repair services were not just mentioned but fully integrated
- Building a future-ready infrastructure that supports automation and system connectivity
Beyond the front-end experience, Luga now benefits from a robust data infrastructure within the Repass Platform. Product information, supplier data, materials, and service events are structured and ready for scale. As APIs and automated data flows are implemented, Luga will be able to connect to systems, reduce manual work, and eliminate data duplication—enabling faster service and deeper insights.

Conclusion: A Blueprint for Circular Workwear
This collaboration shows what is possible when craftsmanship meets technology. With Repass, Luga has turned every uniform into a digital asset—enhancing service, reducing waste, and building trust with clients.
What started as a pilot has become a template for the future—demonstrating how Digital Product Passports can reshape textile care, repair, and circularity at scale. For clients, it means a smarter, more responsive service. For the industry, it is a bold vision of transparent, circular workwear in action.
