The Story of a New Luxury: Repass at Oslo Runway 2025

This year’s Oslo Runway 10th anniversary was more than a fashion week—it was a cultural movement. With nearly 60 designers, artists, and brands participating, the event celebrated Norwegian fashion’s past, present, and future. From the opening ceremony on the Oslofjord to the Anniversary Dinner at the Munch Museum, the program emphasized craftsmanship, sustainability, and cross-disciplinary innovation.

The Steen & Strøm pop-up, where Repass collaborated with Tarinii and ESP, represented this ethos. It showcased how tech-enabled transparency can elevate storytelling, customer experiences, and redefine luxury for a new generation. This year, Repass decided to highlight the artisanal and artistic soul of the industry. By focusing on these visionary brands, we celebrate the kind of craftsmanship and integrity that defines the future of conscious luxury.

The rise of a new generation of high-quality luxury comes at a time when loyalties are shifting away from the old powerhouses. Repass interprets Oslo Runway 2025 not merely as a showcase, but as a signal of a generational shift. The luxury fashion sector is facing increasing pressure to evolve. Rising consumer skepticism, the dominance of fast fashion supply chains, and the proliferation of “dupes” have challenged the traditional value proposition of luxury. According to Vogue Business, many consumers now question whether luxury still equates to quality, and younger audiences are demanding more transparency, sustainability, and digital engagement from the brands they support. In this climate, smaller, agile brands are finding new ways to connect with customers—by offering not just products, but experiences rooted in authenticity and accountability.

Through Digital Product Passports (DPPs), Repass enabled Tarinii and ESP to tell their stories with precision. These passports, accessible via QR codes, offered visitors a transparent view into each product’s lifecycle—from material origins to conversations with the designer, and options for adjustment, repair, and takeback—bridging the gap between physical craftsmanship and digital integrity.

Spotlight on ESP: Memory, Craft, and the Third Space

ESP, founded by Elisabeth Stray Pedersen, celebrated its 10th anniversary with their first SS26 collection staged inside its original Oslo factory. The show was a meditation on memory, craft, and presence, with garments made from recycled wool and deadstock materials. Pedersen described her pieces as existing in a “Third Space”—a concept borrowed from Homi Bhabha—where garments become echoes of past lives and open portals to new realities (Vogue Scandinavia, 2025). ESP’s commitment to local production, material integrity, and slow fashion is not just aesthetic—it is systemic. Through Repass, pieces are embedded with DPPs that allow customers to trace the journey, own its story, and continue that journey over time. This is luxury that remembers.

Spotlight on Tarinii: Fluidity, Transformation, and Durability

Tarinii Martinsen, a designer in Oslo’s menswear scene, explores transformation, fluidity, and emotional depth in her designs. At Steen & Strøm’s pop-up, Norwegian creativity and craftsmanship, she featured angular cut-outs, chunky knitwear and a range of jewelry that challenged gender norms and embraced personal expression. Martinsen’s philosophy is rooted in circularity and emotional durability. Her studio operates as a living archive of materials, where nothing goes to waste. Through Repass, Tarinii implemented a Digital Product Passport that not only documents material origins and care instructions but also includes a customer-facing form for requesting repairs and alterations, extending the life of each garment and deepening the relationship between maker and wearer.

Repass: Enabling the Future of Luxury

At Repass, we call ourselves weavers. By weaving data fluency into the DNA of fashion brands, we are creating tools that help designers articulate their values, build trust, and connect with customers in meaningful ways. The collaboration with Tarinii and ESP is a blueprint for what is possible when ethics, aesthetics, and technology converge.

As the industry evolves, Repass remains committed to supporting brands that lead with integrity. Oslo Runway 2025 was a glimpse into a future where luxury is not just seen—it is understood.
