Ulvang’s Foundation for Digital Growth

Case Study
5 September, 2025
Ulvang’s garments are woven into the rhythm of Norwegian life. Whether you are skiing in the mountains, surfing in Northern Norway, or enjoying a cabin weekend, Ulvang’s wool clothing is designed to transition effortlessly across seasons and activities. With a strong heritage, the company has positioned itself at the intersection of outdoor performance and everyday style—blending fashion, function, and environmental responsibility.

To support this evolution, Ulvang partnered with Repass in a pilot project initiated by BRAV to create a digital experience that reflects the brand’s values, engages customers more deeply, and unlocks new commercial opportunities. The result is a scalable, content-rich platform that turns product data into storytelling, feedback, and long-term brand loyalty—laying the foundation for future digital growth across the BRAV portfolio.

Through Repass’ Connected Product Platform, Ulvang now delivers Digital Product Passports (DPPs) that combine technical precision with lifestyle-driven storytelling. This pilot not only enhances transparency and customer engagement but also sets the stage for smarter systems, stronger loyalty, and sustainable growth.

Ulvang’s story

Ulvang’s story began in 1995, when Olympic skier Vegard Ulvang introduced a revolutionary wool sock that challenged the dominance of synthetic fibers. Three decades later, Ulvang remains a beloved Norwegian brand, known for garments that blend tradition, functionality, and environmental responsibility. But as consumer expectations evolve, so must the tools that support transparency, engagement, and growth.

Bringing Wool to Life Through Data

Ulvang’s product line is built around wool—specifically Norwegian Wool, Recycled Wool, ZQRX Wool, and RWS Wool. Each type carries its own story, certifications, and environmental benefits. Repass helped Ulvang bring these stories to life by creating Digital Product Passports (DPPs) that serve as dynamic hubs for product information, care guidance, and consumer engagement.

Each DPP includes a detailed overview of the wool used in the garment, with links to Ulvang’s materials page and certification details. To enhance transparency, Repass used Material Journey to show the country of origin and key processing steps for each wool type. These journeys vary across products, reflecting Ulvang’s thoughtful sourcing and manufacturing practices. This approach not only educates consumers but also reinforces Ulvang’s commitment to traceability and responsible production.

Engaging Content That Builds Loyalty

Ulvang’s garments are made to last—and so is the relationship with their customers. Repass helped embed video tutorials, care guides, and repair instructions directly into the DPPs, making it easy for users to maintain and extend the life of their garments.

These resources are embedded directly into the product experience, offering:

  • Specific wash instructions tailored to each garment
  • Repair guides for common issues like holes
  • A dedicated Care & Repair section that promotes longevity and circularity

By making care and repair accessible, Ulvang empowers consumers to take better care of their garments—reducing waste and enhancing product value.

But the platform goes further. By integrating interactive forms and CRM connectivity, Ulvang can now:

  • Gather feedback and questions directly from product pages
  • Capture emails and preferences for future engagement
  • Use insights to improve product quality and customer service

This creates a feedback loop where every interaction becomes an opportunity to learn, improve, and build loyalty.

Navigating Complexity: Building a Scalable Digital Ecosystem

Creating a digital experience for Ulvang was not just about presenting data, it was about designing a system that could grow with the brand, enabling future integrations, automation, and data-driven decision-making. Repass built a flexible data architecture that supports Ulvang’s long-term goals.

Key features include:

  • A scalable content model that supports new products, materials and partners
  • API-ready architecture that allows Ulvang to connect with external data sources and services
  • Embedded forms that collect consumer feedback and route it to Ulvang’s chosen database
  • CRM integration that captures email submissions for seamless consumer engagement
  • Event-driven updates to keep product data accurate across touchpoints

This system transforms the DPP from a static information page into a living platform that supports brand loyalty, customer service, and strategic growth.

Responsibility in Practice

Ulvang’s commitment to sustainability is deeply embedded in its operations. As part of BRAV, the brand aligns with a holistic responsibility strategy that encompasses environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. The digital tools developed by Repass help bring this strategy to life—making it visible, actionable, and measurable.

From traceable wool sourcing to repair tutorials and feedback forms, every digital element reinforces Ulvang’s values. Consumers are not just buying garments; they are joining a movement toward more conscious consumption.

A Blueprint for the Future

Ulvang’s wool garments are designed to perform across seasons and adventures. With Repass’s support, the brand now has a digital foundation that does the same. The Digital Product Passport and underlying data architecture empower Ulvang to tell richer stories, engage more meaningfully, and grow more strategically.

This project is more than a technical solution; it is a platform for connection, insight, and long-term value. It is a blueprint for how digitalization can support brand building, customer engagement, and sustainable business practices. And it’s a solution we’re proud to build on with other forward-thinking brands.
